My friend, Huck Schwee, was showing me a photography project he wanted to start up using a Wall-E action figure. His inspiration came from a teenage girl's photography project which used a danboard action figure to effectively communicate emotion in photography. This inspired me to challenge him to a good old fashion duel. We will each be shooting, choosing and posting a shot a day on our blogs for an entire year. I searched long and far for an action figures that would be perfect for this project, but settled on Wall-e because it definitely has the emotional dexterity in which I need in these photographs.
I plan to use this opportunity to finally get out there with my not so cheap DSLR camera and learn how to use the damn thing. Shooting and choosing a perfect shot each day for a year will definitely be a great start to learning about my camera's ins and outs.
We will start shooting on May 2, 2010 and end May 2, 2011. I'm glad that I'm going to do this project with Schwee because it will give me the motivation I need to continue througout the year. If I do get better at this whole photography thing, I hope to one day get out there and make some good money shooting other action figures and non-living objects across the world.
Wish me luck!!!
